How do I remove iPad from Photos

When I have finished with photos after downloading how do I remove the iPad?

Your iPad appears like a disk drive in the sidebar (under "Locations") on a finder window. You can click on it and use ⌘E to eject it. Or control click and choose Eject.

Your iPad isn't in Photos. Photos is a photo manager, and iPad is a device in your hand. Can you explain what you mean?

Yes I just downloaded photos from my iPad to photos on my iMac but now I’ve finished there’s no button next to the iPad to remove it so what I do is just unplug it. Surely that’s not right?
