iPhone 12 Pro Max frozen after downloading latest update

I tried force shutting down my phone and it’s not responding, it’s frozen.

(1) Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF). 

(2)  If the above does not work then - Follow the instructions in this article by Apple ➔ If your iPhone is Non-Responsive or Frozen and see if that helps.

A. Being Stuck in a Boot Loop:

Your iPhone apparently is stuck in a boot loop. And this typically happens when you unsuccessfully download something or an install stalls.  So, refer to my User Tip: How to Fix an iPhone in a Boot Loop - User Tip

Do your Part: Report this issue to Apple. It occurred after an update installation --something they should be made aware of. Apple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what fixes to include in updates to come.

  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this occurred after installing this update. Include the URL of this thread.
