My new Apple Watch won't pair with my iPhone

I bought an apple watch and it won't pair with my phone. It starts to pair - and as soon as it's done, it starts unpairing. I tried to pair it with my son's phone as well just to narrow down the issue and it does the same thing on his phone so I believe there is an issue with the watch itself. I need to make an appointment at Apple
