Youtube goes black for a few seconds

When watching the YouTube (YT) app with my Apple TV the video starts to play for 1 sec and then the screen goes black w/no sound for 3 - 4 secs: After that the video and sound returns.

It happens with YT advertising also—the YT commercial will begin to play for 1 sec, screen goes black and no sound for 3 - 4 secs, and then the sound and video returns. When the YT video returns after the commercial: it starts to play, 1 sec later screen goes black & no sound for 3 - 4 secs.

I tried resetting the app, resetting the Apple TV, updating the YT app, clearing the YT settings, and new cables.

This weird behavior does not happen with any other app. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Some users have found that it relates to a difference in frame rate of the primary YouTube-content and the frame rates of ads. That may cause a pause as the TV adjusts, if Apple TV is set to “Match Frame Rate”. These users found that it behaves better with that setting OFF, forcing a constant frame rate throughout.
