The iPad “iPad” could not be updated. An unknown error occurred (4013).

Trying to update iPad to iOS 16.1 using direct connection with M1 iMac. iPad will not update, or restore. Is this a total loss?

In using the suggestions in these two post .. I was able to restore back to iOS 15.7 from the mess of iOS iPad 16. Thanks so much to users applegoingdownhill & norweg


Nobody in sr tech support through cases or Genius Bar could fix I was told to replace the iPad. Thanks to this user community my iPad is up & running again.
