Photos Memories on Mac - Can't edit
I don't have the buttons to edit the music or anything in the Photos app on my Macbook. I do have them on my phone. Is it not possible to edit this on the mac?

welcome to the Apple Community.
Seems one is able to do much more in Photos on Mac, than on iPhone, though editing is different on the two.
Creating your own unique slideshows, choosing the photos, a theme, the music etc. is made simple on Mac.
Sorry that I am unable to find instructions for creating Photos slideshows in MacOS X 10.11
It seems your older Mac OS X 10.11 software in not covered in the details of this article (link below),
(several newer Mac OS versions are listed at the top)
yet I hope it will be similar enough to give you the basics:
