Why can't messages be managed and synced (deleted) between iOS and MacOS?

I delete on one device and yet they are still on the other. This seems dumb...if I want to delete it I want it deleted on all devices. Why isn't this an option or am I missing something? The point of using Messages on my MacBook is to read and manage them while using my MacBook. My messages/SMS are not in sync. Yes I get them and can read them on both, but I can't MANAGE them on one vs the other. That part doesn't sync and I don't see any option to do so.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 12.6

Have you set up iCloud syncing for messages?

Make sure you enable it on each device. Once you do that, deleting them on one device should delete them on all devices. The only Apple device that doesn't sync is the Watch.
