Contacts on iPhone

In our Company we have troubles with the contacts on iPhone,

it happens that a wrong contact is displayed on iMessage or on a call, what is striking, the "swapped" contacts have almost the same number, here is an example:

User A +xx xxx xxxxx 26

User B +xx xxx xxxxx 261

When a user writes a message to User B, it can happen that the contact of User A is displayed, and this is of course confusing.

Is there anything that can be done about this, or does this error only occur here?

It is not just one case, we have several users with a similar number.

Thank you

Hi reinhard100,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you need some assistance in determining how the Contacts are displayed on the iPhone, correct?

Do you know if you're using iCloud Contacts or are they associated with another account? Typically, your contacts will be associated with an email account or iCloud. This article will show you how to check: Manage and delete contacts on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

"Set up your contacts account

You can set up your email accounts to share contacts with the Contacts app. If you have a contacts account, like a business or school directory, you can set that up, too.

  1. Go to Settings > Contacts > Accounts.
  2. Tap Add Account.
  3. Tap the service that you have an account with. Or tap Other to set up a contacts account, like an LDAP or CardDAV account.
  4. Enter your information and password.
  5. Tap Next.

If you have multiple accounts set up in the Contacts app and want to see contacts for a specific one, open Contacts and tap Lists in the upper-left corner.

Choose a default account to add new contacts

If you set up multiple accounts in the Contacts app, you can choose a default account to add new contacts to:

  1. Go to Settings > Contacts > Default Account.
  2. Choose an account."

Once we can determine which account the contacts are associated with, we can troubleshoot from there.

We look forward to your reply.

Cheers!

Hello Miche11e_P,

thank you for the detailed answer :)

I am the person responsible for MDM in the company and we distribute the contacts with the MS Exchange, so every user in the company has the same contacts (company contacts) and additionally the personal contacts (if necessary).

Our company contacts (mobile numbers) differ only in the last 2 or 3 digits of the number, the rest of the number starting with +43 xxx xxxxxx are always the same.

Many colleagues now have the problem that when they call e.g.: User B, that the contact of User A is displayed (when calling and iMessage) but the contact of User B is also stored on the iPhone.

Thanks
