HomePod upgrade 16.1 to 16.2

Can the Original HomePod be upgraded to 16.2?

True, but it will be shortly. My confusion comes out of the Home application suggesting a major upgrade to the Home architecture allowed if all speakers are upgraded to 16.2. My original Homepods show 16.1 and the mini Homepods are showing 16.2. So we wait.

I don't know that 16.2 is out yet. It isn't listed here: About Software Updates for HomePod - Apple Support. I would expect to hear when the original HomePod is declared vintage or obsolete. So that's a qualified I think so.
