Can't install macOS Monterey on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

I have tried multiple times to install macOS Monterey on my MacBook Pro. It errors every time stating "An error occurred during installation". It is attempting to install in location: MAC OS Extended. Not sure if this location is legit or not. Any assistance is appreciated.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.14

A - In Theory Monterey, should or may convert the drive from the Old Drive format of Extended Journaled to the expected new requirements of APFS / GUID Partition Map.

Starting in Mojave macOS 10.14.x an update to Mojave OS may have offered to Convert the drive to APFS format.

If that did not occur, it is suggested the users upGrade to at least Catalina macOS 10.15 before attempting the leap to Monterey macOS 12.6.1

This can be achieved via the instruction below

With the above information in-hand - follow this How to get old versions of macOS and verify what version this computer Qualifies to install.  For Best results use Safari to commence the download as Others may not work.

Safari will open a redirect and open the Apple Store where the download can commence.

Computer Qualify for the Monterey upgrade

macOS Big Sur 11 hardware requirements

macOS Catalina 10.15 hardware requirements

Make Time Machine Backup  is very useful

Notation - Mojave is the Last version to support 32 bit applications / extensions and Drivers. Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura supports only 64 bit and there is no workaround.

Suggest using Go64 to find 32 bit application before attempting the upGrade. Some or many of the Application already installed may require an update or upGrades to 64 Bit Version
