forgot password for apple id
I forgot the passcode for email. Asked and given the phone number, got the code on the phone number and it asks me give the code sent to My email ID !!!!!

Wondering if you were able to access your account ok with the eMailed verification code.

Seems a verification code from Apple must go to a trusted" device:
ie: a Mac or device that is listed in your Apple ID account.
If the phone number you gave is not listed as a trusted device, that would be why the eMail was sent.
(Your Apple ID is usually your eMail address, so is also "trusted".)
