iMessage only works with 3 of my contacts

(000)000-0000 is not registered with IMessage

Just got this new Macbook Pro recently and wanted to take

advantage of

the Imessage feature on it.

Seems like what ever i do I just cannot figure it out.

I know my Apple Id is not the issue as i can log into iCloud

okay.

Here's the kicker, I have 3 individual in my contact out of

500 contacts that i can send

text to without an issue. It's the other 497 that its giving

me grief with the message that

states those other

phone numbers (497) are not registered with IMessage.

I hope someone can give clarity to this issue.

I have scoured the internet within the last 3 days trying to

find out if anyone has

as solution, but it seems its illusive.

I am pulling my hair out on this issue.

Thank you all

I don't use it myself, but here are requirements and instructions from Apple:

Set up Messages on Mac - Apple Support

Note this: send unlimited messages to anyone who has an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac.

I didnt think anyone would get back to me so timely.

I appreciate it

What I found out is that only apple devices communicate with their family of devices.

That means if I use my Macbook and send a text to someone that have a family device,

eg: Mackbook,Iphone etc in my contact then that person will get a text from me.

Here's the kicker - If i send a text message in my contact to someone that is not part of the family

Then the message errors out and says " contact the person is sent the text to - will get an error

message " the user is not registered with Imessage. "

I have been a windows user all my life, so this is new terrain to me. I only started using the Apple about 2 weeks ago. I'm slowly beginning to see how the Apple OS works.

Not complaining. I love tinkering with new technology.

One thing i noticed, Any of my contact that is part of the Apple family have a Apple Icon near it and

those not part of the family there's nothing. ( which would end up failing to send a message. )

Holy Cow !!!!!
