for very simple Gantt charts you can type tasks in column A


then across the top in row 1, enter week numbers...

select cell B1 and type 1, then

select cell C1 and type 2, then



then select cells B1 and C1, then hover the cursor over the right edge of the section. when the little yellow fill control appears, drag to the right as needed to create the week numbers


then for each task, select cells on the same row and between the weeks, then choose the fill controls to assign a fill color



Once you choose "Color Fill" from the fill options, you may choose the color:
