macOS Ventura QuickTime Player can't play AV1 video files?

macOS 13.2

QuickTime Player 10.5 (1150.4.1)

Open Video File using Codec: av01

Currently

Error message: The document “filename.mp4” could not be opened. The file isn’t compatible with QuickTime Player.

Expected

QuickTime Player should be able to handle AV1 files.

Apparently neither M1 nor M2 chip have AV1 support for encoding. Apple doesn't care - fine. But macOS 13 should be able to play an AV1 file with onboard solution.

IINA plays the file, but was surprised to find QuickTimePlayer durping on this.
