Hi Smartboiiyeet,

Re: any ideas why?

Wondering if your Mac may be short on memory / storage space, so MacOS struggles with memory-intensive tasks.

Eg: A Mac needs at least 50 Gb free for your Operating System to work smoothly

Re: can you tell me how to fix it?

If lack of memory / storage space is the cause:

It is wise to back up everything on your Mac to an external storage drive, before deleting unnecessary data / files / etc.

Eg: Back up your Mac with Time Machine - Apple Support

Re: making space

How to: Optimise storage space on your Mac – Apple Support

or

Free up storage space on your Mac - Apple Support

After freeing up space, you may need to empty the bin, and restart your Mac to see the accurate new amount of storage: check storage : Eg: Apple menu > About this Mac

All the best :-)
