I don’t want a start page to appear when I open safari. How can I eliminate it!?

Safari will always show your last open web page unless you clear all open tabs, then you will see the Start page. However, you can disable most of what is displayed on the Start page.
Open Safari's Start Page, scroll to the bottom and find the Edit button. Then disable everything you don't want to use.
