Why can't I back up my iphone

It Says my iPhone can not be back up not enough I cloud space

I can't back up my iPhone to the cloud it says not enough space. Seams like a scam. After the last update it stopped backing up. I removed all kinds of stuff to get the a lower MG/GB but still doesn't work
