Junk Mail not filtering

I have had an apple e-mail since the beginning of apple e-mail. On my mac (upgraded to Ventura recently) and all devices, junk mail has been automatically going into my inbox. Here are all of the things I have done:

  1. Continuing to mark all junk mail as junk
  2. Went to Mail>Settings>Junk, selected "enable junk mail filter" and all relevant tabs (move junk to junk mailbox, exempt contacts & previous recipients, trust junk headers and filter junk before applying my rules).
  3. Closed down Mail, reopened mail.
  4. Restarted my computer
  5. Toggled on and off the junk mail filtering option
  6. Opened up settings on my phone to see if there was an option I was missing
  7. Signed in to iCloud directly from my web browser to see if there was a setting I was missing there

I have no other e-mail addresses linked to my account - only my apple e-mail. I have had this account for many years and have had no trouble with junk mail until this recent update. Please don't tell me that this has nothing to do with the latest update, because it absolutely does. Everything was working fine until the update and it has something to do with Mail and its settings, although I don't know what. Please help. I have looked up solutions in the community and in Support and none of the solutions have helped. TIA

Last week I started to get 5x the normal junk mail. Go figure.

Just got off the phone with Apple & spoke with a specialist. What I have started to do is to filter my messages directly on iCloud.com - that should directly influence message behavior via the server. Unfortunately even that hasn't worked. Part of the problem might be my e-mail address.

When Apple first sold phones & connected to the Mac, they had the MobileMe platform. My e-mail address is the original "me.com" address, which Apple transitioned to iCloud (they have kept the "me.com" but also added "iCloud.com" & "mac.com"). Not sure what has happened in the last few weeks, but for some reason, perhaps iCloud isn't recognizing messages marked as junk from my "me.com" address? Even though it had in the past?

Regardless, there wasn't a solution yet, however the person I spoke with said they would be looking in to it, and for now I will filter all of my messages directly from my web browser at iCloud.com.

If anyone has another suggestion, please let me know. Thank you

So where do I go in iCloud to re-mark all of these items as junk? I'm already doing that in Mail. All of these junk messages are junk messages I've received in the past that have always just gone into my Junk folder, but for some reason they are now just all going to my inbox. Still doing it today. I've repeated the steps above (toggling the junk tab, resetting the junk filtering, restarting Mail, restarting my computer) - I continue to mark the messages as junk and they keep appearing in my inbox. It seems like it is something on the iCloud/Mail end.

Hello MandyGriz,

If the junk mail filter is not working correctly, you can start with these steps: If junk mail filters aren’t working in Mail on Mac

You'll also want to make sure you've covered the basics like restarting the system and making sure it's up to date. These steps can often resolve minor issues.

Shut down or restart your Mac

Update macOS on Mac

If you continue to have issues with the junk mail filter, you'll want to contact Apple for assistance: Get Support

Cheers!
