Seems as if something is causing your Mac to lag, after login. So, perform the following...
Troubleshooting Lagging Mac:
A. Try Safe Mode:
In Safe Mode, login items do not run, and corrupt system files(i.e. caches) are intentionally reset as a way to fix issues
B. See if your Hard drive is Failing:
What to Try:
C. Remove Login Items:
While in Safe Mode, remove all of your Login Items, and then restart the Mac. Go Here: Change Users & Groups Login Items Preferences on Mac - Apple Support

It is generally a good computer practice to alway keep at least 15% to 20% of the Total Drive Capacity’s as Empty Space. Allowing the computer to drop below these guidelines may eventually, cause unintended consequences.

Notation - If the user is using a cloning software like Carbon Copy Cloner - suggest tweaking the Safety Net Feature in this software. It may be making additional Snap Shots that are not being Cloned to the Eternal Drive. If this should be the case, these Snap Shot could be using additional space on the drive

This category primarily includes files and data used by the system, such as log files, caches, VM files, and other runtime system resources. Also included are temporary files, fonts, app support files, and plug-ins. You can't manage the contents of this category. The contents are managed by macOS, and the category varies in size depending on the current state of your Mac.
Deleting caches slows your Mac down. The point of cache is to have regularly used material available easily to the OS. If you delete the caches then you will lose time as they are recreated. Free and easy way to delete them: Start up in Safe Mode:

Note that both starting and restarting will take longer... as caches are rebuilt.

This begs the question -how may upGrades has this computer experienced in its' lifetime ?
The M1 MBA may have started with macOS 11 Big Sur as new and upgraded to macOS 12 Monterey and is presently struggling for Empty Space in macOS 13 Ventura
To compare, have a M1 Mac Mini with a 256 GB Soldered SSD Drive that started in Big Sur and progressed all the way through and including macOS 12 Monterey to macOS 13.2.1. Ventura

There's no great secret to this. You can move material to external disks - your music and photo libraries are excellent candidates for this - and you can delete unwanted material. As only you know what can be moved off to externals, and only you know what material can be dumped, only you can do this work. There is no app that can do this for you magically.
Never install any app that claims to "tune up", "speed up" or "clean up" your Mac. These apps exist for one reason: to separate the unwary and inexperienced user from their hard-earned money. At best they do very little, at worst, they can damage your OS installation and cause far more problems than they "solve".

1. Delete unnecessary files: Go through your files and delete any that you no longer need. This could include old documents, downloads, and media files that you've already backed up.

Steps 1, 2, and 4 are the same. A restart will do step 3, but bear in mind they'll be recreated again as needed. Under no circumstances install that app - standard warning against junk apps applies. All it promises to do is... steps 1, 2 and 4, this time without user supervision, and so risking dataloss and issues with the OS.
Usually, users are more accustomed to delete cache from the settings on the web browser (Safari or Chrome). The simple method cannot delete cache permanently. Over time, the more cache accumulates, the more it slows down your Mac.
I personally think that only professional tools can faset and permanently delete the cache, you can check Google for good recommendations.

Take pic of your login items before you delete them, though I doubt the login items are the problem. Some would say you need 15-20% of your hard drive empty and you have a ways to go.
