Apparently, Apple has closed access even for purchased music. Sync music is only allowed with a subscription. I bought songs on iTunes on my iPad and now have no way to transfer then to my iPhone. Sheeesshh. Terrible customer service by Apple

Music purchased through iTunes Store on one device can be downloaded on other devices.
Redownload music – Apple Support (UK).
You can also set up automatic downloads in music settings on iPhone and iPad.
