Where is the iphone backup located in my Mac? I might need to delete it due to its size.

You are free to manage backups anyway you see fit...

Anytime you upgrade the iOS from the Mac, it automatically creates a backup, old backups are removed..
You can archive iPhone backups if you want more than one backup.
In order to save drive space recent iOS backs are over-written, unless you manually alter the name or from Manage Backups Control click and “Archive” the backup.
