2009 iMac and Catalina 10.15.7

I'm trying to update my OS so that it works with the latest security requirements for Google.

I've got an old late 2009 iMac (and an Airbook that's nearly as old).

Is it safe/compatible to download and upgrade to 10.15.7?

Grateful for any advice.

You will need a late-2012 thru 2020 iMac for a Catalina upgrade, and your Late-2009 iMac can only upgrade as far as High Sierra 10.13.6 which is sufficiently old enough that it may not meet current Google security requirements.

You would need a mid-2012 MacBook Air to upgrade it to Catalina.
