how to free up ram

on MacBook

I didn't even run any program but still my Mac uses 5gb ram

I don't have much apps though

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.5

I see no issue here. RAM gets allocated were it is needed.


If you think you have RAM issue look at Memory Pressure, if it is not in the RED you have no issue.

Activity Monitor.app




compare— starving for RAM, Swap files used (VM)




Unused RAM is wasted RAM.


If you have some associated issue then explain more fully
