iOS 16.4 unstable connection to hearing aids

After updating to iOS 16.4.1, the connection to my iPhone-compatible hearing aids (Widex 330) is completely unstable — frequently failing to connect or dropping one or both aids. I constantly need to reconnect — several times each day.

It worked perfectly well under iOS 16.3 and prior.

What to do?

(If needed, I did a save and can do a restore to the iOS 16.3 version that I was using prior to this update.)

Thank you in advance for your help.

I found the solution (no help from Apple support):

In settings - accessibility - hearing aids, have iOS forget the device. Then redo the connection from scratch.

Apparently, the internal settings in iOS are changed with the update and need to be cleared and reset.

Things are working correctly now.
