CF Memory Card not recognized in Ventura 13.3.1 on latest MacBook or MacMini

After upgrading to Ventura, using a ProGrade CFExpress B/SD with direct USB-C connection, CFExpress cards do not mount and the drive cannot be viewed with Disk Utility. The SDXC cards are recognized and mount quickly and are readable.

This does not appear to be a problem with the ProGrade card reader or the CFExpress cards, and I suspect there is some issue with Ventura.

One thread suggested reformatting the card, which is not possible if the card cannot be viewed in disk utility.

Based on several threads here and in Reddit, this is not an isolated issue. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This was driving me up a wall when I updated to MacOS Ventura on my M1 Macbook Pro. I tried using the reader on an Intel iMac and it was fine with both the CFExpress and SD Cards, but when I tried it on the M1 Macbook Pro, it wouldn't even register it in Disk Utility.

Then I noticed there was a security pop-up quickly flashing on my screen when I connected and disconnected the ProGrade reader. MacOS wasn't even giving me a chance to answer....

Happy to say I found a fix that worked for me, hope it helps you too. In System Settings, under Security & Privacy, change this setting to "Automatically when Unlocked" or "Always Allow"

I am new to this whole camera and transferring info on your memory cards to your computer. I have a MacBook Pro M2 memory 16 GB running on Sonoma 14.5 can you tell me will I have any problem having MacBook read any CFX cards without having to have some type of external reader will the MacBook Pro take them directly please tell me anything to point me in the right direction and which cards to get because this whole business is going to make my head explode. Thank you.
