New watch needs update won’t pair
How do I update my new Apple Watch with the newest software when it’s not paired to my phone yet.? I can’t do anything with the watch without it pairing?

When you start the pairing process, part of the process should be to update the watch. Have you tried to pair it and what if any, error messages are you getting? What model Apple Watch is it?
