Why Can't I Add Music to My IPod Shuffle?

I've been trying to sync my music to my iPod shuffle but no sync option comes up on finder. Additionally, my iPod shuffle keeps telling me to sync to iTunes, which isn't possible since iTunes doesn't exist as an app anymore. Is my Ipod shuffle unable to sync music now? Can someone please help me resolve this issue? Thanks!

I am selecting the iPod in the sidebar of Finder, there is no sync option and when I try to move music from the music app to the iPod, the iPod still says "please connect and sync with iTunes" There is no option for syncing that appears in either of the two locations

You should be able to drag and drop mp3/m4a audio files straight into the iPod in the sidebar in your finder. Just make sure the file is an mp3 or m4a. You can find this by

  1. Finding the file in Finder
  2. Right click the file and find Get Info
  3. A window should pop-up and the file type will be listed there

I hope this helps! (I reloaded the page and saw your response, disregard this)
