Can you have two Macbooks mirrored?

I'd like the option of not having to lug my heavy MacBook pro 16" M1 around as its way too heavy. But I want a mirror version of my system, preferences etc on two macs, so ideally get a 13" M2 perhaps for better portability sometimes?

Any thoughts on this?

If I understand correctly, you want to have the same system, applications, preferences, and data on two systems (without having to manually duplicate all changes in both place.

Only a partial solution, but you could consider

  • Storing some data using cloud services, like iCloud
  • Storing some data on a portable hard drive or SSD that you can carry around with the laptop of the day.

Yes, that's the idea.

At the moment, I do have my Downloads folder my Documents Folder and my Desktop Folder on Google Drive which works well for that more or less.

I think the thing is having the ease to use the following:

Mail set up exactly the same

Google Chrome is my go-to browser due to its extensions etc

Safari sometimes

All the apps the the preferences for the apps, and set up and licences etc?

Ideally if they could bring out a slim 16" that would be better 🤦🏻‍♂️
