how to remove cursor from magnifier tool view?

Any gurus out there can tell me how to remove the cursor from blocking my view when using the Magnifier tool in Preview?? Below im using the tool in the screen shot - see the ' C ' on no. 112 image - id like the cursor not to be there blocking my view when I move the tool around....

Apparently if I select ‘ rectangular selection ‘ instead of ‘ automatic selection ‘ which is default, in the tool menu, then select the magnifier , the cursor does not appear.


Apple could not explain why this works , but seems to be a work around.


However, I have to reselect the option with each new image I view using magnifier.
