That's a tricky one. If EVERY person in the group is on iMessage, meaning everyone must be on iPhone, you can be removed. But if just one person is not an iMessage user, people can't be removed from a group test. That is because iMessage goes through Apple Servers. But if a member is for example an Android user, the messages are sent via cellular (SMS) and people can't be removed. This is on the cellular provider, not Apple.
