Migrating from old iMac to new MacBook Pro that has a new user/admin name

What happens to the user/admin account on the new MacBook Pro that is not identically named to the old user/admin that is moving from the old iMac?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 12.6

Regardless of whether they are named the same, Migration Assistant treats each Account as Unique, and does not try to combine Accounts unless you specify that they should be combined.


MacOS is and has always been a Multiple-User, multiple-Account system. There is no "owner" Account. if you choose to create only one Account, NOTHING changes inside MacOS.
