A flashing status light means that the Apple TV box has failed to start up properly.
If a cold restart (disconnect from power for a few moments) doesn’t remedy this, then the system software may need to be re-installed (restored). Unfortunately, for the 4K models, users can’t do this themselves. Instead contact Apple for assistance.
