Ken Burns effect on iMovie disappeared, what can I do?

Deleting preferences does not cause any loss of data or disruption to projects. It simply resets the preferences to the default preferences. The disappearance of your project happened for reasons unrelated to deleting preferences.

When the delete preferences procedure is performed iMovie opens in a new blank library. To get back to your project you need to open iMovie in the iMovie library in which the project was created. So first close iMovie. Then go to your original library that usually is located in the Movies folder on your Mac (from the Finder menu do Go/Home/Movies). Double click on the original library's icon to get back to your projects. When iMovie opens, go to the projects browser screen (where your projects are shown as icons). Your project's icon should be displayed there. If it is not displayed, go to the top of the project browser. In the box to the left of the search box, click on the little up/down chevron symbols (^) and make sure that "All Projects" is selected and that the library in the lower box is designated as your original library.

Yes, sometimes a simple restart or relaunch will shake out glitches. Sometimes placing the clip into a different newly created project works too.

If the problem returns, try doing the delete/resetting of preferences procedure. To delete/reset preferences open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new empty library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Possibly you may need to reboot to set the changes.  Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.

That's not a fix, that's a bandaid! Apple must have a defect in their software. I import some photos into iMovie and the "Activity" status button shows 1/4 done. For hours! The Ken Burns effect does not work. I try to adjust where the start and end are and it limits where I can put them.

This procedure deleted the project I was working on for days. The project was saved in an another library folder. No other library folders appear now. Is there a way to reverse it?
