time machine backup drive

I'm using a Lacie rugged 1TB drive to back up a Mac mini it backs up fine but when I try and check the disk with first aid I recieve this error, first Aid process has failed. If possible back up the data on this volume. I have reformatted the drive and still get the the same error after I back up


any help would be greatly appreciated

Drives can be a year old and still need replacing. I've even seen Dead on Arrival drives on new computers.

Rare, but they do happen.

The reason I say a reformatted drive having errors with disk utility is not a good sign is that a reformatted drive is typically emptied, meaning there is very little reason for error, unless something is wrong with the ability to erase the drive.


To verify the health of a drive http://www.binaryfruit.com/ DriveDX can give you more detail than Disk Utility.
