why does my mac not sync Photos with my iPhone without using iCloud.

Device backs up, devices syncs... photos selected for past 1 year.... result nothing. Completely not working why force people into iCloud I wish I could delete all traces of iCloud of my devices. All I am looking for is a software that syncs Photos with Photos between mac and iPhone....

Mac Pro, macOS 10.13

Pretty scary that the sync feature in finder/myiphone does not work and won't move photos onto my iPhone.

I normally take lot's of pics then edit them in Photos and want to sync them back to my phone.... I am reluctant to try 3rd party stuff it's a feature the Trillion dollar company should have worked out.

Sync photos between your Mac and iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

how can they have this guide and it in fact doesn't sync the past 12 months pictures on my photos app on my mac ???? How do you stand behind software like that, with of course the link to their $$$$ iCloud service that when they finally lose your pictures it won't be their fault either. Time for people to wake up. Infuriating me how can it be that you need to pay a 3rd party company money for an app with features that the OS supposedly has ?

It can be frustrating when a device backup or sync doesn't work as expected, and I understand your frustration with iCloud if it's not meeting your needs. Fortunately, there are alternative software solutions that can help you sync photos between your Mac and iPhone without relying on iCloud.

One popular option is using Apple's native application, "Photos." You can set up iCloud Photo Library to sync your photos across devices, but if you prefer not to use iCloud, you can use the "iTunes" app on your Mac to sync photos manually.

Here's how you can do it:

  1. Connect your iPhone to your Mac using a USB cable.
  2. Open the "iTunes" app on your Mac.
  3. Click on the device icon (iPhone) in the top-left corner of iTunes.
  4. Select "Photos" from the left sidebar.
  5. Check the box next to "Sync Photos."
  6. Choose "Copy Photos from [Photos Library]" from the dropdown menu. This will sync your Mac's Photos library with your iPhone.
  7. You can select specific albums or folders to sync or choose to sync all photos.

Keep in mind that using iTunes for photo sync requires a direct USB connection between your devices. If you're looking for a wireless solution, you might consider third-party apps that offer photo syncing capabilities via Wi-Fi.

One such application is "PhotoSync," available on both macOS and iOS. PhotoSync allows you to transfer photos and videos between your devices wirelessly, without using iCloud. It supports selective syncing based on date ranges, just like you mentioned.

Before using any third-party software, it's essential to read reviews and ensure the application is reputable and secure. Always backup your photos before attempting any syncing or transferring processes.

Remember, there are various alternatives available to iCloud for photo syncing, and finding the right one for you may require some trial and error. I hope these suggestions help you find a suitable solution to sync your photos seamlessly between your Mac and iPhone.

I have last year selected und the photos menu in the finder app, and the app will not sync the photos from my mac to my iPhone. Why doesn't it work. I didn't select all 200000 pictures in my photos library but only the last year. No warning, no error, says syncing but it doesn't do the last year. It drives me crazy. I looked at iMazing, $40 for a feature that fails in apples famous software seems outrageous. My wife's phone won't even download pictures anymore thru Photos cause she's past 100k pictures taken and has never been able to remove them from a now completely full iPhone. Mind boggling why Apple can't have a software that actually does what it says it can do

Hi jackaustin25 and thanks for the info.

When I attempt to sync from iTunes to my iPhone, after 15 minutes my new iPhone receives the message,

"The iPhone "iPhone" could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish."

I'm running all latest code on iPhone and Mac

This is a NEW 15 Pro Max.

It backed up to Mac ok.

Photos were imported to Mac from iPhone.

I changed the name of my iPhone on the iPhone and it immediately showed the new name in iTunes.

Any help is appreciated.

Running macOS Monterey and attempting to sync my new iPhone to my new Mac.

Was first greeted with the "erase and sync" popup but while googling what that meant the popup went away.

Tried to sync the iPhone by clicking the sync button.

It appears to have synced my calendar & contacts but nothing else.

Verified that all items were checked to be included when syncing.

No photos were synced.

I do not use iCloud and choose not to use iCloud.

Hard to believe that Apple has resorted to removing the ability to sync photos between a Mac & iPhone without using iCloud.

What do I need to do to make this work?

What gets erased when an iPhone is synced to a new Mac?

why does my mac not sync Photos with my iPhone without using iCloud.
