Opening Keynote Files from iCloud Encountered an Error

I'm unable to access any of my Keynote files stored on iCloud. Every time I try to double-click a Keynote file from the Finder, nothing happens. Even attempting to open it directly from the Keynotes application doesn't elicit a response from my Mac.

Just to provide some context, I'm currently on iOS 13.5.

I used to have a lot of confidence in the iOS system, but now I'm reconsidering using Keynote altogether. This situation is especially disheartening because all the important business keynote files I've diligently created over the years seem to have disappeared.

Anyone have the solutions?

Best practice is to download files to you Mac first, then open them on the Mac.

You should also have a back up of all your files on a separate local drive, if you don't have that you could be in serious trouble. iCloud is not a backup system.
