Sony say that the RX10 iv is compatible with macOS Ventrua. However, their instructions only mention earlier versions. Has anyone managed to install an update on Ventura? If so how? thanks.Sony

If you hold down the Option key and go to the menu and select System Information you'll find under Software/RAW Support in the sidebar that the Sony RX10 iv is not supported but the Sony RX100 iv is.
You'll have to wait until Sony provides Apple with the necessary info to include in a system update for compatibility with the Sony RX10 iv.
This Apple document also shows that the camera is not supported: Digital camera RAW formats supported by iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura - Apple Support

plus, I downloaded several Sony RX10 IV files in Monterey and they all opened in Preview, the Finder, Quick Look etc.

I went to https://www.sony.co.nz/electronics/support/cameras-camcorders-digital-cameras/articles/00292318 and it lists the rx10m4 as compatible, but when you go to the Page the Link is for an older version of OS. "For macOS 11(Big Sur) / macOS 12(Monterey) Users".
I've contacted Sony NZ but have yet to hear back.
macOS Ventura and earlier support Sony RX10 IV .ARM RAW files. Or are you referring to a Sony app?
I am unable to transfer pics from my camera to my MacBook Pro which runs Ventura because I can't find the Sony software.
Did you install it?
Do you need it? You can get images from a camera with the Finder or Image Capture or Photos...
Just to add, scroll down to the Sample RAW images, download a couple and see if they will open.
Were those RAW files from the Sony RX10 IV?
Last but not least, they also open in Big Sur 11.7.9.
