iPhone overheating

phone is overheating a lot and turns off and takes long to turn back on

Some activities such as charging or a lot of computational activity (e.g., video), generate heat. Some warmth is to be anticipated.* Read this article about keeping your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures - If your iPhone or iPad gets too hot or too cold - Apple Support


Changes in software such as upgrades may introduce new features which may add to power drain and heat generation. Check Settings > Battery to see if there are apps running that use a lot of power. If there are, decide if you can turn off a service such as Settings > General > Background app refresh when an app is in the background, or Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Read this support article to learn about the battery health feature —> iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support


If you think there is a problem with a device, have Apple inspect it. Go to this page to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) or Apple Authorized Distributor (AAD) --> Find Locations


How to make a Genius Bar appointment

1. Go to Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple

2. Go to "Get hardware help".

3. Select your hardware and continue selecting options requiring replacing parts until you see "Bring in for Repair"

4. Sign in with your Apple ID

My iphone 14 I bought new in Feb 23 started overheating a couple of months ago and the battery was discharging quickly. The battery was also down only 97% capacity.

It was pretty obvious to me that it was a battery issue.

I called apple support 5 times, over 35 mins call each time, took it to the Mac Store Joondalup, Apple Store Perth 3 times all up.

The phone was diagnosed each time and said to have nothing wrong with it.

Finally after considerable time and frustration, a call to apple support said” yes it sounds like a battery issue”. I took it back to the Apple Store Perth where they finally changed the battery. Update came in on the same day that was to fix bugs and fix the overheating issue.

I am now aware that I’m only 1 of many, many people that have highlighted the issue.

Why did apple not inform users about the issue or at least immediately identify it as a problem to the public?

It wasted many of my hours for apple to accept my problem and fix it?

They obviously knew about it.

Very non transparent in their dealings with me and their customer service staff. Not at all happy.
