Emailing larger video files

Second generation, iPhone SE. iOS 16.6.1

when I attempt to email these videos files, my phone gives me the message that they are over 100 MB and I need to connect to Wi-Fi. Prior to this recent update, my phone always connected to Wi-Fi when available before using cellular data. In every other way it is functioning as expected. I can do anything online. I can send normal emails all on Wi-Fi. I am doing this at home on my home network. So far I have tried turning off cellular data, so that Wi-Fi was the only option. Any suggestions or help is much appreciated. I will do a workaround by chopping the email in to smaller segments, but would like to understand..

Turn on Mail Drop for large attachments

You can use Mail Drop to upload large attachments to iCloud, where they are encrypted. Recipients see an attachment or a Mail Drop link in the message and they can download the files for up to 30 days after they are sent.

Try Compressing the File:

Use a computer to compress it. So do so, upload this to to iCloud, and then download it to your computer. On your computer, open it, and compress it. Then, send via a compressed file to yourself.

Here are the steps:

I. Compress the File:

Compress the file into a ZIP file.

Go here: Zip and unzip files and folders on Mac - Apple Support

II. Email it to yourself:

Add the Zip file to the eMail

III. Send it it:

Once downloaded from the eMail, decompress it:

Note:

This wont work for a 100MB file, but it will when needing to send items that just larger than what is granted by your eMail provider.

Thank you for responding. I realize I can upload to iCloud and I assume other paid cloud services. It seems Apple makes it very difficult not to use their other paid services if you have their devices. This is my third iPhone, but I only just started using it to video grandchildren. I’ll try downloading to my windows, computer and emailing from there. I know there’s an app that will let me do that.

I don't know any email provider that will let you email a 100Mb file, most cap the file size at around 10-30Mb.

You could try using a file sharing program such as Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, etc. or one of these -

Thank you. As I said, I’m new to trying to send anything but very brief video clips. Apparently I need to do more research. I appreciate your suggestions. I do have some sort of cloud account with windows or maybe iCloud will turn out to be the best option. It’s certainly the easiest. I do appreciate your help and I guess I shouldn’t be so quick in my frustration to malign Apple.
