double click to open file not working in macos ventura 13.6 macbook pro m1

Go to System Settings->Accessibility->Pointer Control and adjust the double click speed.

Move the slider to find a convenient speed. I think that it is set too fast and thus the second click is registering as a separate click instead of a double click.

So you double click on a file and it does not open? Does it open if you single click to select, and then press Command-O or Command-downArrow?

Does this happen only with office files, or with other files as well (like pdf files, for example)?
