messages doesn't screen share with my friend as before.

We both have Mac mini m1 computers and both using Sonoma systems. My friend has just updated to Sonoma and now we can't screen share. I get a message that says: Unable to resolve... Verify the network connection.

I've set it up so that I can share files/folders between all of my Macs (the new M2 Mini, the old 2010 Mini and a MacBook Pro Touch Bar). On the old 2010 Mini, the new M2 shows in the Network section of the Finder with a question mark icon. It shows in the Network section of the MacBook Pro just fine and as expected. When the M2 with the question mark is selected on the old mini, it gives me the option to share screen. When I view the M2 from the network section of my MacBook Pro, not only does the icon show properly as a computer (no question mark), it gives me the option to either "share screen" or "connect as". What do I need to do on the old Mac mini so that the question mark goes away and it behaves the same as it does on my other computer? I hope this makes sense.

Screen sharing on High Sierra—why isn't it working anymore? Screen sharing has stopped working on my 84-yo mother's Mac Mini from 2011 running High Sierra. I keep getting this error regardless of whether I connect from Macs running High Sierra, Catalina or Monterey: The firewall isn't blocking: screen sharing is mentioned as permitting incoming connections, but even if I turn the firewall off screen sharing won't work. I've tried to add my own account under Users & Groups and added that in Sys Prefs—Screen Sharing but it doesn't help. It also doesn't work if I allow everyone to connect. I have also tried to share using Messages app on my Macs but I get the same error. Can someone help me with this? I am having a hard time helping my mum since I live in another location and she quite frequently needs assistance with the computer. Thank you in advance Philip

Unable to initiate screen control despite being able to share screens I am unable to commence screen control with my co-worker. We can accept sharing of each other's screens no problem but not initiate control. We are on identical Mac hardware (Mac Mini) and software (13.3.1). We have attempted to initiate this both ways round (her to me, me to her) and have tried this via Messages ("i" button > share) and 'directly' via the Screen Sharing prompt. After hanging for a minute with "Waiting for a response from...." we end up with: A: When trying via Screen Sharing prompt "Connection failed to [user's email address], Unable to communicate with [user's email address.]" or B:When trying via Messages "Connection failed to [apple ID], Make sure the remote computer is available and the firewall is not blocking screen sharing." Note that I am able to initiate screen control with other friends so my firewall settings are evidently fine. My coworker's settings are the same as mine.

We'd like to share a suggestion if this is referring to the network. We would recommend staring with Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support and additionally isolating this to see if just between you two or other users to help further identify the root cause. If this still is unable to be resolved, you can contact Apple Support to further investigate the problem.
