Time Machine saved to external drive

I reformatted my new 2T external drive for 2nd time. Not able to put new folder on drive after Time Machine backup to disc.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 14.0

I understand you want to create a folder on an external hard disk drive designated for Time Machine backups. Is that correct?

We may no longer do that. Time Machine backup drives are "read only".
