Auto-adjust is off, but…

Even though the auto-adjust is off, my screen keeps going completely black unless I hold one finger on the scroll bar. I can’t use my MacBook Pro at all right now, and I have a lot of homework due this weekend! Help!

Choose your OS in the dropdown.

If your Mac screen goes black - Apple Support

If this doesn't remedy the situation: Contact - Official Apple Support

If you have some sort of failure, and it sounds like you do, you need to start now making plans on completing your school work without your Mac for a week or more after you you leave it with Apple ... assuming you have to do that.

And any Apple repair ain't gonna be cheap.
