Apple TV Doesn’t Open Apps

I can’t open my apps on Apple TV Home Screen any more. I get a drop down box to move or delete the app. How is this fixed?

I have unplugged / re-plugged Apple TV and that doesn’t help.

Apple TV HD, tvOS 17

Hey RNL-1,

Depending on your Apple TV, the command to reorganize your apps may be a long press on the touch sensitive remote.

"Rearrange Apps

  1. Navigate to an app, press and hold the clickpad center (Siri Remote 2nd generation or later) or touch surface (Siri Remote 1st generation), then select Edit Home Screen.
  2. Drag the app to a new location on the Home Screen.
  3. Tip: Move your favorite apps to the top row of the Home Screen; when you highlight a top-row app, content shortcuts appear at the top of the screen.
  4. To save the new arrangement, press the clickpad center (Siri Remote 2nd generation or later) or touch surface (Siri Remote 1st generation)."

Try quickly pressing and releasing the center button and see if it then opens the app instead of presenting additional options.

Cheers!
