iPad PowerPoint app connecting video but not audio through hdmi

I want to use my iPad mini to for PowerPoint presentations. I haven't tried it with a projector yet. But attempting with my Dell monitor, I'm able to get the PowerPoint to play. It will also play videos in presentations. But it will not mirror audio through the HDMI hookup. I can unmirror audio and play through the iPad speakers. But I want to mirror audio to play on the screen or through a projector's audio system. Is there a workaround for this?
