Apple Remote Desktop Monitoring Icon Appears Randomly on Client Machine Menu Bar

Hello,

I work at a local school district with a fleet of about 600 Macs managed with Jamf Pro -- mostly M1 MacBook Airs.

As of late, we have had instances of the Apple Remote Desktop icon in the menu bar appearing randomly on a small number of client machines. We can confirm that there are no administrators viewing these devices when it appears, and the icon itself is unable to be interacted with. This will come and go randomly.

So far to our knowledge it has only affected a handful of devices. We have tried removing and re-activating the "Remote Management" option under "General > Sharing" in System Settings both locally and via MDM profiles. Through this, device restarts, and an incremental OS update, the issue seems to persist on affected devices.

The client machines in question have no other software installed with permissions to view the screen.

We are currently running MacOS Ventura on our devices, with a recent update from 13.3.1 to 13.6. This issue has appeared on both M1 MacBook Airs and a M2 Pro MBP.
