ios 17.3 location isn’t working for maps or google maps

i recently got the most recent software update (ios 17.3) and i have tried to use maps and google maps and both of them will have the directions and destination, but lose track of my location on the way. i have checked all of my settings and my location is on for the apps and my precise location is on, but it still can’t track my current location correctly. is there anything i should try doing besides the basic stuff like restarting the apps and my phone??

I have iOS 17.3.1 and GPS location is consistently off for one of my family members phones, and causes their location to jump from one location to another, back and forth from the same two points on the map … very annoying and renders it untrustworthy.

I am experiencing the same issues. Any app requiring location services seems to be impacted. Apple Maps, Google Maps, Life 360, all are glitchy and do not accurately track my location. Additionally, my location will randomly jump and Maps (I was traveling and using Maps for navigation) causing it to reroute. Not only is this annoying, it could create a dangerous situation. During a recent 9 hour drive Maps ‘lost’ me several times. I, too, began experiencing this after updating to iOS 17.3 and agree with r_hinton that it is seems connected. Restarting my phone did not correct it. Sure would appreciate some assistance from Apple. And hope a fix is released soon.

iOS updates generally aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. Apple maps and google maps issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors.
