iOS 17.3 - disappearing home pages

I updated my phone this morning and it was fine until I locked it. When I unlocked it, one of the sections of my Home Screen was gone. What happened?

This just happened to me for the second time. The first time was a couple weeks ago with a previous iOS version. I have my apps arranged in folders across five or six screens. All but the Home Screen and App Library have disappeared. The screens aren’t hidden- when I press and hold the bottom of the screen, only two are there- the Home Screen and the App Library. Rebooting didn’t help either time. They all reappeared magically after about an hour the first time. Hopefully that will happen again!

I just discovered something. I have several different wallpapers. I have been running the wallpaper that has Photo Shuffle, which is the wallpaper that has this problem. If I switch to a stagnant wallpaper with a single picture in the background, all of my screens, folders, and apps reappear. When I switch back to the photo wallpaper, they’re gone again.

I have the same problem as you. It’s true you could reset and spend hours putting everything back the way you like but there is no certainty that this will solve the problem. It is mostly likely some kind of glitch built into IOS 17.3. in my case 1. Your backup in cloud will most likely have the same problem.

There is a temporary fix I found by accident. Change your wallpaper and you should get you system back until it happens again, which it probably will. Each time I just change the wallpaper. Apple says that there is a new update coming in about two weeks or so. It doesn’t solve the problem but it’s a decent workaround.

I forgot to mention I have the iPhone 15 Pro Max updated several days ago to the most recent iOS version, 17.3.

go to settings, go to screen time, then go to content & privacy restrictions, click iTunes & App Store purchases and you’ll be able to change deleting apps to allowed if it is saying don’t allow. I was getting extremely frustrated before I found this out like so I can download and app but I can’t delete it. Hope this helps.

I'm having the same issue with iOS 17.4. I think It has something to do with wall papers. I have different one setup for different focus schedule and speculate the issue recurs at the time of wall paper change.

I lost all my individual "pages" and found they were stuffed into Apples library. I went to "Wallpaper" and found my original on "Current" ... clicked and bingo the original setup was back. Thank goodness.

I had the same problem with iOS 17.4.1. The wallpaper trick didn’t work here.

Then, I found out that if you long press the “dots bar” in your home screen, you can select what screens to show (or hide, or even delete). It solved my problem

(I’m still intrigued by the disappearing screen problem, tho)

I deleted the Photoshop wallpapers, then re-added them. Now everything is OK, at least for the moment.

Worked like a charm, thank you! Changed to a different background photo for Home, turned phone off, then back on, it’s fixed!
