Can't approve Passwords and Keychain for iCloud for Windows

I just did this and it worked. Fingers crossed it sticks! Thank you. It was driving me nuts.

You save my day, using the same wifi connection for my Windows laptop and iPhone works correctly.

Worked for me, had to make sure my phone is not only connected to the same wifi but also have mobile data and bluetooth both turned off

SOLVED.... Use your desktop to connect to web using YOUR wifi or Ethernet-cable network. Use your iphone/ipad/laptop to connect WIRELESSLY to your SAME wifi network. In desktop, click the key-icon on top right to enable the passwords. You will receive a code on your iphone/ipad/laptop. Enter code on desktop window that requested it. And voila.... they both become active..!

This was what worked for me.

It seems that if iCloud detects that both devices (iPhone and Laptop) are on different networks, it won't allow the use of the passkey.

I got it to work when I finally connected them both to the seem WiFi Network.

It finally worked for me making sure that 1) windows hello is activated and 2) both computer and phone be on the same network with no VPN activated on any device. When VPN is active on any device, I would still get the code from icloud but it would not go further with the approval.

This has been a major pain for so long but finally, here is what worked for me on my windows desktop running Win 10 Home 22H2.

I read from someone else in this thread to make sure vpns on my iphone (Where I am receiving the Apple ID Verification Code alert) and desktop are disabled.

I ensured I was connected by wifi on my iphone to the same network my desktop is connected to.

I also read from someone else here that I need to set up Windows Hello, I set up a password on the desktop and then a pin code.

After doing all this, I was receiving the Apple ID Verification Code alerts but upon entering the code into the approval window, nothing was happening.

THEN I opened the Icloud Passwords app and saw that it was locked with the pin I had set up for Windows Hello.

I entered the pin which unlocked the icloud passwords app and sure enough when I clicked approve I received the approval code on my iphone, I entered it into the desktop and now have icloud passwords working on vivaldi on windows. Big thanks to everyone in this thread.

This worked for me.

1. Install old version 7.18.0.22 of iCloud with No Password App.

2. Log in and set up iCloud.

3. Wait till iCloud Drive has synced.

4. Then install icloud-13-4-101-0. This brings it up to date to the Microsoft Store method of installing.

5. Then install icloud-14-0-162-0. This is the only version i have found that synched the passwords.

I have not upgraded for fear of losing the access

I agree that seems to be an Apple problem communicating between iCloud for Windows and iCloud itself or my device (iPhone SE with IOS 17.6.1). I had my iPad (also 17.6.1) turned off. it was about the same time I upgraded that I experienced this issue - ie facing "Approve.... " against "Passwords and Keychain on the iCloud" for Windows screen'

THIS

go to Firewall & network protection,

then check if there is (active) next to private network or public network

if it's next to public then click that

switch off microsoft defender firewall

try again and once it goes through turn it back on

you are a god send for this, it's a shame that apple seems to be so *** at offering good support

I tried this and yes the app was locked, i used the pin and the app took me to the sign in page. I signed in and I'm still locked out. thanks for giving me hope. I know there must be a simple fix, but I still can't make it work

Hello everybody,

I found a working solution on the internet after hard searching.

Uninstall iCloud.

On iPhone remove all your devices from you Apple Account, leave only iPhone.

Install iCloud on Windows.

It should be OK.

In my case it was!

Hey! could you find any fix of the issue? I'm also facing the same issue on windows 10. It was working absolutely fine until the recent iCloud for windows update.
