Frustrations with Audio Device Selection in GarageBand & System Integration
Has anyone else been frustrated with how GarageBand handles audio devices and the overall integration with macOS? Here are the main points where things just don't add up:
- iPhone as Microphone Prompt: Every time my iPhone connects to my MacBook, GarageBand wants to use it as a mic. I've never needed this, and there's no clear way to permanently stop this prompt. Why isn't there an option to remember our choice or disable this feature?
- AirPods and Audio Output: My system settings are set to use AirPods for audio, but GarageBand doesn't seem to get the memo. It defaults to another audio source, forcing me to manually switch to AirPods inside GarageBand. Shouldn't "system settings" mean that it actually follows the system's chosen audio output?
It feels like these issues shouldn't exist, given Apple's focus on user experience and the tight integration they advertise across their devices. It's 2024, and these basic functionalities are still stumbling blocks.
I'm looking for any advice, workarounds, or even acknowledgment from Apple reps here. Is there a fix in the works? Any settings I might be overlooking? Thanks in advance.
P.S: The fact that these small issues that have persisted for years have never been addressed or fixed when thousands-millions of people are using Apple products specifically to create music/specifically buy Apple airpods for the seamless transition between devices is pathetic.
